Mahima Chhatravas, the G+7 Floor New Girls’ Hostel of Magadh Mahila College, Patna
University, Patna completed in 30 th September, 2021 is located within the College campus and is an integral part of the College. The foundation stone was laid by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Nitish Kumar on 18 th September, 2019. Mahima Chhatravas is a distinctive accomplishment of the College that aims to provide convenient and comfortable stay for the
outstation students. The new hostel also fulfils the vital objective of ensuring safety of its boarders.
The G+7 Floor new hostel accommodate students who come from the different parts of state and country too. The hostel provides accommodation to Five Hundred Four (504) students across the conventional and semester courses. The rooms are adequately furnished. The
hostel has common room and washroom area along with washing machine and water cooler at each floor. Mahima Chhatravas has a separate lavish Dining Hall on ground floor. The mess operates four times in a day, at breakfast, at lunch, at evening refreshment and at dinner.
Wi-Fi facility is also available in the hostel. Laundry services are separately provided within
the campus for residents. In addition, the hostel also provides washing machine for self-washing by residents. It also has 24/7 dedicated housekeeping staff to cater the needs of boarders.
GOVERNANCE
The hostel affairs are co-ordinated under the guidance and supervision of the Principal-cum-Warden. The Warden is assisted by Mahima Chhatravas Boarders’ Cabinet. The Hostel
Committee under the chairmanship of the Principal, Magadh Mahila College frames the
Rules and Regulations of the hostel and is the final authority in matters concerning the hostel.

ACCOMMODATION (Three Seated Students’ Occupancy)
- There are Five hundred Four (504) seats available in the Mahima Chhatrawas across the courses and semesters.
- Seats are distributed appropriately among different courses and semesters.
- Reservations in accommodation to reserved categories as approved by the Patna University are followed. However, the OBC candidates are treated as general candidates for the purpose of hostel accommodation as per norms of the University
NUMBER OF ROOMS
The New Hostel has one hundred sixty-eight (168) furnished rooms. It has twenty-
four rooms with seventy-two (72) occupancy, One Common Room, 16 Toilets with
separate 12 Bathrooms and One BHK Assistant Superintendent accommodation on
each floor. The rooms are allotted on sharing basis among three residents. Cleaning is
done on daily basis by the house keeping staff. The washrooms are separate from the
rooms within the hostel.
DIFFERENTLY ABLED FRIENDLY HOSTEL
The Government has made unprecedented attempts to make the newly built campus hostel
‘Mahima Chhatravas’ friendly for differently-abled boarders. Ramps and Lift facilitate the
movement of differently abled boarders within the hostel building. The Mahima Chhatravas
also has washrooms for differently abled boarders on 1 st floor.
COMMON ROOM AT EACH FLOOR
For the recreation of residents the hostel has a Common Room on each floor. News-papers
and magazines are provided in the Common Room. A large wall mounted LCD Television is
also in place
LAVISH DINING HALL
Chhatrawas has furnished lavish Dining Hall on the ground floor, where one hundred fifty
boarders can eat at the same time
MESS
Mahima Chhatravas has a separate mess where boarders can take their meals. The mess is
managed by the residents under the supervision of the Warden / Superintendent and operated
on cost basis. Wholesome meals are served to the residents in the mess. The menu is decided
by the Boarders’ Cabinet. The mess is operated four times in a day – at breakfast, lunch,
evening snakes and dinner
CARROM & TABLE TENNIS HALL
Carom-board, Chess and Table Tennis facilities are also available to the residents in the
Carom / Table Tennis Hall on the ground floor
GYM (FITNESS CENTER)
The hostel maintains its own Fitness Centre. It is located inside the hostel building on the ground floor possessing equipment for free weight exercises, bodyweight exercises, gym ball
exercises / Swiss ball exercises, resistance band exercises, resistance machine exercises and stretching exercises. The fitness centre also holds classes for kickboxing, yoga and aerobics:
- Weight training section : This section comprises of Olympic weightlifting weights, exercise stations, Swiss balls etc.
- Cardio section: It consists of treadmills, elliptical trainer, cycles etc.
BASIC HEALTH CARE FACILITY
The Hostel has a basic health care unit to provide first-aid medical support in its building t provide immediate first-aid medical assistance to needy students and staff members
WI-FI
The Mahima Chhatravas is fully Wi-Fi enabled which can be accessed by students and staff
members in the hostel building. Hostel residents are provided with Wi-Fi facility. User ID
and Password are issued by the Superintendent. Internet is available round the clock
BEAUTY SALON
Mahima Chhatravas has beauty salon to provide basic facility to boarders and convenient and comfortable stay for the outstation student
24X7 COFFEE SHOP
Mahima Chhatravas has a 24×7 Coffee Shop where boarders can take their snakes and
coffee when they needed during their study hour. The Coffee Shop is be managed by the boarders under the supervision of the Warden / Superintendent and operated on cost basis. The eatable items are decided by the Boarders’ Cabinet. The Coffee Shop operates on twenty-four hours
RO DRINKING WATER
Four (4) RO Drinking Water Machines has been installed at ground floor and Two (2) at each floor to provide safe drinking water to all boarders.
WASHING MACHINE
Two (2) Washing Machines has been installed at each floor to provide washing facility to the boarders
GARDEN & PARK
A beautiful lush green garden complements the grandeur of Mahima Chhatravas. Trees,
shrubs and herbs of varied kind are planted and maintained by the students, teachers and staff. The hostel also has a small park with basic facilities for the students.
HOUSE KEEPING FACILITY
Mahima Chhatravas has a 24×7 dedicated House Keeping facility which has been appointed
on tender. There is approximately forty skilled and trained housekeeping staff. The staff
members of housekeeping facility are outsourced. They work in two different shifts under the
supervision of head.
FIRE FIGHTING INSTALLATION
The College Hostel has an active Fire Fighting Installation well equipped to control any unforeseen situation. The system includes Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose Reels, Fire Hydrant
and Automatic Sprinkler.
RAIN WATER HARVESTING
Rain Water Harvesting system in the Hostel is excellent. A well designed technology has been employed to collect, store, convey and purify rainwater that runs off from rooftops,
garden area, roads, open grounds, etc. for later use.
TWO SUBMERSIBLE BORING PUMPS
Two submersible boring pumps have been installed to cater the water need within the hostel.
One housekeeping staff looks after the water facilities and requirement.
SOLAR WATER HEATER AT TERRACE
A solar water heater has been installed at the terrace of the hostel to make an optimum use of
sunlight and conserve energy. It is economic and modern technique that provides complete energy independence and further lowers the electricity costs.
