Infrastructure & Facilities

The infrastructure of an institution plays a vital role in the development ofthe college as the students are now focusing on the quality of labs, classrooms and other required modern facilities while selecting a college. The college has very good infrastructure with advanced classrooms and laboratories and have witnessed a remarkable growth in infrastructure development along with the academic developments that have taken place over the past few years especially in last two years.
The MMC has state-of-the-art infrastructure and learning resources including ICT enabled classrooms, Smart classrooms are getting popular now-a-days and the college have an eye over the technology so that the students are benefited. The teaching – learning process is supported by the adequate infrastructure of the Institution. 14 class rooms are ICT enabled. While the number of new infrastructural development has increased, the number of existing classrooms and seminar halls has been upgraded with new technology supported with ICT, LAN, LCDs, K-Yans, Smart Boards, CCTV Cameras, and Wi-Fi facilities. Equipment such as laptops, web cameras, printers, projectors, etc should be accessible for students and should be given to them according to their needs. Training for the use of ICT devices and Digital library should also be provided by the college to students regarding newly launched products and give them hands on training. This will give an edge over others when it comes to placement and higher studies.
Consequently, to meet the demand for greater supply of electricity, the college provides 24 X 7 alternate power supply that are maintained by Green Generators with DG Motors. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled and all departments have Internet facility. The campus is fully covered under fire safety norms and several Fire Extinguishers have been installed for security and safety of all laboratories, computer labs, classrooms and at various places on the campus as required.
The Library recognizes the importance of functioning in a thoroughly professional way taking into consideration the interest of all departments. The Library is housed in the main building of the college with 100 seating capacity for reading purpose.
As a prime learning resource, the College Central Library namely ‘Medha Knowledge Centre’ is fully automated with all its subsystems like LAN connectivity and Wi-Fi. Library Management Software system is incorporated with latest technologies that enables library to serves its users more effectively. Barcode online circulation system is in practice in the library. The library is a member of INFLIBNET. The digitalization of library through OPAC has resulted in the easy access of information from any computer within the campus on subject / author- wise book, account information like books borrowed and due date to return, penalty to be paid, if not returned intime, and so on. It also facilities retrieval of information.
The MMC Central Library is well-stocked and has a wide collection of Books, Reference Books, Rare Books, Journals, Periodicals, Newspaper, Previous Year Question Papers, Photo coping facility, e-journals, Audio-Video Materials etc. A specialized service provided by the library includes INFLIBNET facility with Network Centre for access and download the e-resources with KOHA software and OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility for searching the library resources. Central and departmental libraries have subscriptions of many national and international academic journals. The college library has linked with National Digital Library and OPAC helps the students to search the available reading materials easily. A special software is available in the Central Library for visually challenged students.
In collaboration with Central Govt. Scheme under (SECI) Solar Energy Corporation of India, a 100 KWp Solar Power Plant has been installed on the top roof of Main Administrative Building to generate electricity from renewable energy source which saves the 50% monthly electricity expenses of the institution and reduces environmental pollution. The science laboratories of all science departments, laboratories of computer department, language laboratory and e-library have undergone effective modernization of instruments and equipment not only to meet the current requirement of modern teaching -learning but with view to developing these infrastructural facilities through constant monitoring. These are maintained with keeping in view that these centres are the prime learning resource where various research works is carried out.
The infrastructure and learning resources are upgraded according to the need of students with qualitative and quantitative facilities for overall personality development of students. The Institution provides congenial environment for holistic development of students. Apart from academic facilities it also promotes co-curricular and extracurricular activities, such as:

Sports Facility

  • College has a spacious playground which is used by students to practice and play various outdoor games and sports
  • Various sports events and group display events like Yoga, Aerobics and PT are organized on the occasion of Annual Sports 
  • Every year in the month of December Annual Sports Day has been organized with full zeal and zest
  • The campus has Basketball Court for the students
  • College has a spacious Indoor Stadium on the campus where various tournaments are organized round the year
  • Gymnasium and yoga center of college is also a major attraction for students

Cultural Stage & Open Auditorium

  • College has a specious Open Auditorium with projector and audio-visual facility where various cultural, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities have been organized regularly
  • Students’ Central Society and Sahodara- The House System of the college organizes various co-curricular events in the premises regularly
  • Various important days are also celebrated under the banner of Sahodara Society
  • Cash Scholarship, Awards and Certificates have been distributed to meritorious students and winners of different events on the occasion of Annual Day and College Foundation Day

Fire Safety Facility

  • The fire safety devices have been installed throughout the premises, especially in all laboratories and cafeteria which are at high risk like Physics, Botany, Chemistry, Home Science and BCA Laboratories.
  • College also arranges Mock Drill for Earthquake and Fire Safety Drills from time to time to make students’ aware, sensitize and prepare for any fire hazards.

Safety - Security Facility

  • To ensure safety and security of teachers and students, Bihar Government has set all female Police Booth at the entrance of the College Main Gate
  • To strengthen it further a number of CCTV cameras have been installed at various locations on the campus, classrooms, library, cafeteria, students’ common room and main gate of the college

The MMC library is an empowering unit with a Resource Centre for Visually Challenged possessing an array of audio-visual aids to assist in the process of self-actualization. A complete smoke and plastic free zone, with own Environment Policy for protection and conservation of environment of the Campus, the College provides an eco-friendly environment to its students with the latest initiatives of Solar Power Plant, Rainwater Harvesting Pits, Waste Manage Plant, Waste recycling and other green initiatives.  The College has taken measures to address the need for safety, security and vigilance.  The campus is Fire Extinguisher and CCTV-enabled to cater to the safety and security requirements of a well-endowed and equipped Campus receiving a huge footfall.

In view of its recognition as a “Heritage Building” by the Government of Bihar, the class-rooms in the College retain their heritage look with vintage and smart furniture. The class rooms at MMC facilitate a blend of traditional and modern modes of teaching with technological aids such as ceiling-mounted LCD projectors, roll-down screens, green boards and podium for faculty.

The College has a separate Tutorial Room. These rooms have ultimately emerged as the bedrock for the generation of bright ideas. These rooms also provide the faculty with a peaceful and comfortable place for their academic pursuits.
Here, the students have personal interaction with the faculty on academic and other matters and further conduct their co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
The College has three state of the art Computer Centres. All the computers in the centres are provided with the latest updated software and hardware.  Internet, printing and scanning facilities are also available through network. Further, each centre is equipped with uninterrupted power backup.
The teaching of information technology and computer-based papers is carried out through LCD screens in the Computer Centres.  In addition, the Centres are also available for the students for accessing internet, practice and for preparation of their projects.
The College has separate IT Cell to conduct all web- affairs of the Institution like – College website upgradation-maintenance, Facebook maintenance WhatsApp site maintenance, College software maintenance, College MIS system maintenance etc.

Attached to the main Academic Block, the MMC Central Library namely Medha Knowledge Centre, is a two storey fully Wi-Fi enabled unit with seating capacity for about 150 readers. The library employs the latest technology in library sciences to provide the best learning to its users.  Well-stocked and presently having a collection of over one lac seventy thousand volumes on different subjects, latest publications in the fields of humanities, science and social sciences are continuously added to the collection to equip students with a wide range of academic. The College Library is fully automated and provides user services through computer.

The Library opens for seven hours from 10.00 AM to 4.00 PM for students’ convenience.

The Library subscribes various journals of national and international repute. The prominent journals being subscribed to by the Library are: Accountancy, Accounting Review, American Economic Review; Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy, Chartered Accountant, Economic and Political Weekly, Economist, Harvard Business Review, Journal of Accountancy, Journal of Business, Journal of Economic Literature, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Journal of Finance, Organizational Dynamics, Vikalpa, Reserve Bank of India Bulletin, Seminar, Vision, Yojana, Down to Earth etc.

All prominent national dailies are also subscribed in the library. Magazines like – Business India, Business Today, Business World, Competition Master, Competition Success Review, Capital Market, Dalal Street, Frontline, India Today, Mainstream, Outlook, PC Quest, Reader’s Digest, Span, Times etc. are also subscribed in the library

The College has 4   Hostels within its campus to accommodate students who come from the different parts of state and country too. The Hostels provide accommodation to round about three hundred students across the semesters. All hostels have a separate dining hall, common room and washroom area within the hostel. The rooms are furnished. The mess is operated four times in a day, at breakfast, at lunch, at evening refreshment and at dinner. Wi-Fi facility is also available in the hostel. Laundry services are separately provided within the campus for residents. In addition, the hostel also provides washing machine for self-washing by residents.

The College has made unprecedented attempts to make the College campus differently-abled friendly. Ramps and lift facilitate the movement of differently abled people within the college building. The College also has washrooms for differently abled students.  There is a unique Resource Centre for Visually Impaired Students (RCVC) developed under the MMC Enabling Unit.  The resource centre has a variety of assistive technology tools, hardware equipment and software, like JAWS and Supernova, the screen-reading softwares; Kurzweil, the OCR; Clear Reader, the instant-reading hardware equipment; clear-view the magnifier attached with LCD; DUXBURY Braille translator; scanning and embossed printing devices; etc. to facilitate students with different degrees of visual impairment.

The College has a separate Resource Centre in the College library to enable students to access desired information for their academic pursuits through internet.  The centre has 40 computers for students.

Extensively used by the students for extra-curricular activities and for hosting functions of the College, MMC OpenAuditorium has a seating capacity of about 500 students. It has an advanced light and sound system that is managed by specially designated support staff along with the students. It is equipped with a large stage, two green rooms, comfortable seating, carpeting, wall panelling for acoustic effects.

The state-of-the-art air-conditioned Seminar Halls, with a seating capacity of about two hundred people, is equipped with audio-visual facilities along with recording facilities and an excellent sound system. It also features a projector screen, white board, green board and a podium. The Seminar Hall is used for holding seminars, symposia, workshops, group discussions, lectures etc.

The College has a state-of-art Indoor Sports Complex, Basket Ball ground and a big sports ground to conduct various sports activities round the year.
The College has been excelling in sports for over two decades.  Every year the College holds Annual Sports Day, Inter-class, Inter-college and Inter-university matches. For proper training and grooming of players the College provides coaching facilities to the players for different games.The College has teams for Cricket, Football, Basket Ball, Ball Badminton, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Chess, Shooting, and Athletics.

The College maintains its own fitness centre. It is located near the sports ground/ Indoor sports complex, possessing equipment for free weight exercises, bodyweight exercises, gym ball exercises / Swiss ball exercises, resistance band exercises, resistance machine exercises and stretching exercises.

The College has a basic health care unit Infirmary to provide medical support in its campus to provide immediate medical assistance to needy students and staff members.

The College campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled which can be accessed by students and staff members in the academic block, corridors, open areas, hostels and sports complex. Users are provided a secure access with a login ID and password for using Wi-Fi facility through laptops/tabs.

The College Cafeteria is a popular meeting place for students.  It serves a variety of eatables at moderate prices.  Fully air-conditionedcafeteria with elegant tables and plastic chairs add comfort while enjoying array of savoury food. The College operates one fully air-conditioned cafeteria having a seating capacity of fifty students.

Bank The College has an in-campus branch of State Bank of India to extend banking services to students and staff members. It functions six days a week from 10.00.AM to 4.00 PM. Books and Stationery Outlet The College has an in-house Bookshop being run by the MMC Co-operative store. The Bookshop provides books, reference materials and stationery products to the students. The shop remains open on all working days during College hours. Photocopier Outlet The College has also outsourced a photocopier outlet to provide photocopy, printing, compiling and binding facilities to its students and staff. The outlet opens on all working days during College hours. Parking The College has a separate parking lot on the campus for students and staff. For regulating entry, parking stickers are issued to the bona-fide users. Procedure and Policy for maintenance and utilisation of facilities in the College The policy of the College is to fulfil and upgrade the infrastructural requirements as and when such need arises. Various committees of the College are constituted to plan and ensure that the available infrastructure is in line with its academic growth and is optimally utilized. These include: Advisory Committee / Assets Verification Committee/ Development-cum-Finance Committee/ Building Committee Library Committee/ Laboratory Maintenance Committee / Computer Lab Maintenance Committee Procedure for maintenance of facilities The College ensures regular maintenance and upkeep of all infrastructural facilities. The maintenance work is carried out by trained in-house experts as well as outsourced to appropriate outside agencies. A full-time caretaker is appointed by the College to ensure the cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation, water supply, electricity, security and stationery condition and to update the Principal of the institution about the current/ daily state of affairs. Furniture and equipment are purchased on regular basis as per the requirements. The College has its own fulltime plumber, electrician, sweepers and gardeners to maintain the lawns and flora of the College. The College has appointed a Senior Technical Assistant and a Computer Network Assistant to provide regular support services relating to computer hardware and software. They also ensure the allotment of Wi-Fi passwords to individual students and faculty members. The College awards Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) to external agencies/private vendors for the maintenance of computers, LAN, servers, printers, projectors, scanners, laptops and biometric attendance system. Procedure for utilisation of facilities The decisions in respect to the proposals for initiating new programmes or activities in the College are taken in the Advisory Committee meetings. The decisions are then taken to the Finance-cum-Development Committee for approval. The Development Committee evaluate the possibilities of rational and optimal use of the time and space available. Rooms of different sizes are allotted in accordance with the size of the classes. They make recommendations periodically about the need for expanding the existing space, remodelling or re-using the existing space. Further, suggestions are made for the most efficient use of the time frame, keeping in mind the need to balance academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

It has an advanced light and sound system that is managed by specially designated support staff along with the students. It is equipped with a large stage, two green rooms, comfortable seating, carpeting, wall paneling for acoustic effects, air-conditioners, washrooms, locker and a podium. 

The state-of-the-art Platinum Jubilee Seminar Room was constructed on the occasion of the College’s Platinum Jubilee in 2000–2001. The air-conditioned seminar room, with a seating capacity of about hundred people, is equipped with audio-visual facilities along with recording facilities and an excellent sound system. It also features a projector screen, white board, black board and a podium. The Seminar Room is used for holding seminars, symposia, group discussion, lectures etc.

The College has a state-of-art international standard multipurpose indoor sports stadium. It has a seating capacity of about 1200 spectators. The courts laid with wooden planks are used for Badminton, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Judo, Wrestling, etc. Besides this, a separate room for chess and table tennis is also provided in the stadium.
The College also has a hockey cum football field.
The College has been excelling in sports for over two decades. Every year the College holds Sports Carnival, Inter-class matches and Sports Day. For proper training and grooming of players the College provides coaching facilities to the players for different games. The College has a Physiotherapy Unit at the Sports complex for its students and staff members. The Physiotherapy section has Electrotherapy room and Exercise therapy room. The Electrotherapy room is equipped with all the basic physiotherapy modalities (i.e. IFT u.s. TENS, Muscle Stimulator, SWD [short move diathermy], Traction Machine, wax bath therapy and hydro collator) meant for pain relief and relaxation. The exercise room has the basic exercise equipment (i.e. Shoulder Wheel, Wrist Exerciser, Ankle Exerciser, and Foot Exerciser) along with some equipment especially for sports students that include resistance bands and loops, Swiss Balls, Foam Rollers, Bosu Balls, Medicine Balls, and Weigh Cuffs. There is also an RIP-60 trainer (supervision trainer) for rehabilitation and training purposes. A visiting physiotherapist is attached to the unit and is available during working days and hours.

The Center also holds classes for kickboxing, yoga and aerobics: 

  1. Weight training section: This section comprises of Olympic weightlifting weights, exercise stations, Swiss balls etc.
  2. Cardio section: It consists of treadmills, elliptical trainer, cycles etc.
