Action Taken Report 2018-2021

The IQAC at Magadh Mahila College undertakes various engagement and developmental activities in pursuance of its vision of all-round excellence in the Institution. Orientation of mission, vision, values and leadership practices towards good governance by working with administration andvarious committees at different levels of the Institution, the IQAC Action Taken Report presents the efforts and achievements of MMC during the year 2018 to 2021 towards the realisation of its mission.
The College has always shown concern about the environmental issues, hence conducted programs like; Tabaco free campus, polyethene free campus, plantation, sanitation drive etc. Use of plastic bags and cups are discouraged on the campus. Even in the Students’ Cafeteria usage of steel plates/ leaf plates and steel cups or paper cups are mandatory. The primary goal is to provide a healthy environment and superior quality of life to the students during their short but important stay at the college campus.The major activities include :
Solid- Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) is a unit for environment conservation on the campus.In order to provide college and its stakeholders a clean and safe environment, a comprehensive solid waste management system was initiated by Centre for Green Initiative (CGI), MMCfor maintaininga healthier environment and for efficient solid waste management inside its campus. Solid- Liquid Waste Management System refers to the supervised handling of waste material from generation at the source through the recovery processes to disposal. They are basically the activities and actions required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. It includes the collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste, together with monitoring and regulation of the waste management process. Recognising its importance, the College has developeda Solid-Liquid Waste Management Unit on its campus at the entrance and a MOU was also signed with Sunai Consultancy (P) Ltd. Solid and Liquid Waste Management SLWM) is one of the key components of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) (G), launched with the objective of bringing improvement in cleanliness, hygiene and the general quality of life in the Premises. SLWM is the collection, transportation, processing, recycling, treatment, and disposal of waste material in a scientific manner. It serves beneficial to entire campus.
Under the project, a wide holistic mechanism will be set up by the College for management of solid waste comprising dry, wet, hazardous and bio-medical waste. The project also aims to look at the waste generated on the campus from an economic perspective and create value added products from waste through proper and scientific processing. The project uses participatory approaches for students’ mobilization and collective behaviouralchange towards achieving decentralized solid waste management. A multi-stakeholder approach is being followed, that seeks to bring all internal stakeholder i.e., students, faculty, cafeteria, office, hostels, visitors and all stakeholders together to participate in the dialogue, decision making, and implementation of solution toward common goal. The MMC is the first college in the region where segregation, collection and processing of waste in four categories with treatment of over 90% of the waste collected inside the campus itself in a safe, scientific and sustainable manner is done.
Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) is a unique feature of the College as a valuable alternative or supplementary water resource, along with more conventional water supply technologies. Water shortages can be relieved if rainwater harvesting is practiced more widely. Rain water harvesting is a technique of collection and storage of rainwater into natural reservoirs or tanks, or the infiltration of surface water into subsurface aquifers before it is lost as surface runoff. It provides independent water supply during regional water restrictions. In modern day conditions this technique has become a pre-requisite as it will help in replenishing ground water resources, will reduce peak demands during summer months and will also save treated water for more important and appropriate water uses. The institution taking a note of its importance and has developed a rain water harvesting system in its premises.
MMC is the first College in the state to construct a ‘Zoological Garden to boost natural habitat in its campus. Inside the campus, a large Aquarium with different varieties of fish species and an Aquatic park has also been constructed to give a better natural learning environment to the students. Aquatic Park of the College nurtures aquatic birds and animals. Ducks and swans along with their Ducklings and swan- lings swim and roam in the vicinity of the pond, which adds to the beauty to the campus. The aquatic park also develops the casual curiosity for animals among the students. Aquarium in the premises is a suitable reservoir of different species of fishes. Fishes look attractive due to their body colors and feathery fins. It also increases the aesthetic appeal of the place. Fishes, swimming in group indicate a sense of social and community ecology. The Zoological Park along with Aquatic Park and Aquarium in theInstitution indicate to prioritize the sustainability, conservation of diversity, education and research.
The College is strongly committed to sustainable development through its mechanisms of environmental management in accordance with many of the schemes employed at college campus. The College further develops social, environmental and ecological sustainability. College has its own functional ‘Environment Policy’ and ‘Centre for Green Initiatives’ to guide its ongoing improvements in the environmental concerns of the institution. The Centre aims to create a holistic atmosphere to facilitate the conversation, action and feedback on environmental issues through engaging students, faculty members, staff and all stakeholders.
We are committed to protect the environment through complete compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and outstanding efficiency in the conduct of our operations. The Institution provides congenial environment for holistic development of students. The infrastructure and learning resources are upgraded according to the need of students with qualitative and quantitative facilities for overall personality development of students.
MMC got the pride of becoming the first college of the state to establish an Incubation Centre, in the name of ‘Magadh Mahila Entrepreneurs Incubation Centre’ (MMEIC) with a sole aim of preparing skilled young entrepreneurs for business Incubation. The MMC is well determined to provide employment opportunities to all its students. The College Incubation Centre prepares skilled young entrepreneurs for business incubation. The main focus of this centre is to provide every kind of technical support, training and expert guidance regarding making business plans, start-ups, skill development and self-employment. For promotion of entrepreneurship the College has signed MOUs with Atal Incubation Centre, Bihar funded by Niti Aayog, Govt. of India, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Development, Patna and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Innovation Club, Patna.
In collaboration with Central Govt. Scheme under (SECI) Solar Energy Corporation of India, a 100 KWp Solar Power Plant has been installed on the top roof of Main Administrative Building to generate electricity from renewable energy source which saves the 50% monthly electricity expenses of the Institution and reduces environmental pollution. The laboratories of all science departments, laboratories of computer department, language laboratory and e-library have undergone effective modernization of instruments and equipment not only to meet the current requirement of modern teaching -learning but with view to develop these infrastructural facilities through constant monitoring. These are maintained with keeping in view that these centres are the prime learning resource where various research works are carried out.
The College has established a new cafeteria in the name Madalsa Students’ Cafeteria was inaugurated on 28th September,2018. The cafeteria provides variety of eatables at moderate prices. It is fully hygiene and air-conditionedwith proper sitting facility where the students can relax while enjoying food.
