Department of Home Science

The Department of English came into being with the inception of the college in 1946 headed by Prof. Illa Mullick till 1984. Dr. Archana Jaiswal is the present head of the Department. The mission of the department is to empower women through academic knowledge, spiritual strength, social consciousness and a positive self image. It aspires to nurture deeper analytical sensibilities in learners with equally efficient language and communication skills so that they could effectively cope up with the professional challenges of their lives. The department trains the students not only in academic field, but also provides ample opportunities for them to learn creative arts, social service, environment awareness, leadership quality and value based personality development. English department of Magadh Mahila College is a pioneer in terms of conducting several academic activities like Extempore, Debate, Quiz, Poetry writing competition, Story writing competition, Declamation etc. It also runs literary society in collaboration with other language departments in the college. Apart from B.A(English Hons), the department is successfully running three certificate courses in Language Proficiency, German Language and Japanese Language. Dr. Archana Jaiswal is the coordinator for six months Language Proficiency Program and German Language course. Dr. Khushboo is the coordinator of six months Japanese language course.
