The College has always shown concern about the environmental issues, hence conducted programs like; Tabaco free campus, polyethene free campus, plantation, sanitation drive etc. Use of plastic bags and cups are discouraged on the campus. Even in the Students’ Cafeteria usage of steel plates/ leaf plates and steel cups or paper cups are mandatory. The primary goal is to provide a healthy environment and superior quality of life to the students during their short but important stay at the college campus. The major activities include :
Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) is a unique feature of the College as a valuable alternative or supplementary water resource, along with more conventional water supply technologies. Water shortages can be relieved if rainwater harvesting is practiced more widely. Rain water harvesting is a technique of collection and storage of rainwater into natural reservoirs or tanks, or the infiltration of surface water into subsurface aquifers before it is lost as surface runoff. It provides independent water supply during regional water restrictions. In modern day conditions this technique has become a pre-requisite as it will help in replenishing ground water resources, will reduce peak demands during summer months and will also save treated water for more important and appropriate water uses. The institution taking a note of its importance and has developed a rain water harvesting system in its premises.
MMC is the first College in the state to construct a ‘Zoological Garden to boost natural habitat in its campus. Inside the campus, a large Aquarium with different varieties of fish species and an Aquatic park has also been constructed to give a better natural learning environment to the students. Aquatic Park of the College nurtures aquatic birds and animals. Ducks and swans along with their Ducklings and swan- lings swim and roam in the vicinity of the pond, which adds to the beauty to the campus. The aquatic park also develops the casual curiosity for animals among the students. Aquarium in the premises is a suitable reservoir of different species of fishes. Fishes look attractive due to their body colors and feathery fins. It also increases the aesthetic appeal of the place. Fishes, swimming in group indicate a sense of social and community ecology. The Zoological Park along with Aquatic Park and Aquarium in the Institution indicate to prioritize the sustainability, conservation of diversity, education and research.
The College is strongly committed to sustainable development through its mechanisms of environmental management in accordance with many of the schemes employed at college campus.
