Magadh Mahila College, the pioneer institution of higher education for women in Bihar, was established in 1946. Presently a constituent unit of Patna University, possessing a permanent affiliation under section 12B of UGC Act since 1952. It has been Accredited ‘A’ Grade with CGPA (3.02) by NAAC in January 2013 imparting education to more than 4500 students in various disciplines. It has also been awarded CPE (College with Potential for Excellence) Status by the UGC, New Delhi for 2011-2016, and has retained the Status of CPE till 2021.

The College has been honoured with ‘Best College Award’ on ‘ShikshaDiwas 2014′ by Sri Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar and has also been awarded ‘Excellent Institution of Higher Education for Girls in Bihar’ by His Excellency Sri Ram NathKovind, the Governor-cum Chancellor of Universities of Bihar, on the occasion of National Education Bihar Summit and Award 2016. The college introduced Personality Development Classes for students in the Academic Session 2018-19 for development of human capital and human resources. 

      The College administration motivates the faculty members to engage themselves in research activities.  A number of major and minor research projects are submitted and some are going on and in a position to submit.

 In the academic year 2018-19 the college has broad academic development agenda. In this regard a number of ICT based Faculty Development Programmes and Training Programmes for teaching faculty regarding the use of Smart Class and making of Digital Lecture will be organized in the new academic session.

February 9th, 2018 marks a historical day in the history of Patna University when Magadh Mahila College becomes first ever institution of Higher Education in India to introduce House System with the name of ‘सहोदरा The Daughters of Same Motherfor streamlining various activities to be taken up and giving space to students to develop all aspects of their growth and learning.

This year (2018) one of our alumna Dr. Sharda Sinha, the renowned Folk Singer has been honoured with PadamBhushan, the second highest civilian award by the President of India on the eve of Republic Day 2018, Earlier she has also been honoured Padma Shri award.  The alumna Dr. UshaKiran Khan, the eminent litterateur and historian has been honoured Padma Shri award.This is the matter of pride that the college established an ‘Incubation Centre’ inaugurated by Sri Jai Kumar Singh, the Hon’ble Minister of Industry, Govt. of Bihar on 15th of May 2018to prepared skilled young entrepreneurs for business incubation.

 Four Three Months Certificate Courses and Two Six Months Certificate Courses for Skill Development of Girl Students will be started from Academic Session 2018-2019. From Fine Arts stream, the name of new courses are: (i) Block Printing, (ii) Madhubani Painting (iii) Tikuli Art and (iv) Jute Art, Craft and Designing. From ICT stream the name of course is ‘IT Skill Development in Graphics & Web-Designing and from Business Administration stream the name of course is ‘Office Management Course”.
